My approach in individual psychotherapy is eclectic and includes several modes of treatment, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); Motivational Interviewing; and psychodynamic psychotherapies.
Some patients choose to focus on specific issues and target symptoms, and the treatment may then entail learning new skills to deal with these discrete problems. Others may however be considering changes in one or more domains of their life, personal or professional, with a view to a more meaningful career or to healthier relationships, for example. This kind of process may involve examining your subjective experience in greater depth and developing a greater understanding of your needs; your emotional life; your relationship patterns; and your beliefs about yourself and others.
